Ajouter la visionneuse de photos Windows sur Windows Server -

Sur les nouvelles version de Windows Server, Microsoft a prit le parti de mettre le minimum d’outils lors du déploiement de ses systèmes, depuis Windows Server 2012. Cela est assez embêtant lors de l’utilisation d’un Server bureau à distance (RDS), où le programme par défaut est Paint. On est d’accord cela n’est pas hyper « sexy » pour la lecture de photos, surtout sur une utilisation au quotidien.

Il est quand même possible de mettre cela en place, étant donné que cette fonctionnalité a juste été désactivé sur Windows Server. Des modifications dans le registre vont permettre de réactiver la visionneuse et de l’utiliser sur un serveur. Une autre alternative consiste à installer une autre visionneuse.

Voici ce que vous obtenez pour un Server nouvellement installé :

Nous allons donc passer par le registre du système. Les modifications à apporter dans le registre étant nombreuses, on va directement s’appuyer sur un fichier REG pour importer dans le registre les clés et valeurs nécessaires.

Par la suite, il vous suffit de mettre le dossier ZIP sur votre serveur et de dézipper le fichier. Avant toute manipulations supplémentaires, je vous recommande de faire une sauvegarde de votre registre à l’utilitaire intégré regedit.exe.

Dès que vous êtes prêt, il vous suffit de double cliquer sur le fichier. Vous allez obtenir un message :

Il vous suffit de valider et vous aurez un message de confirmation d’application :

Cette modification s’applique à tous les utilisateurs de votre serveur, sans qu’il soit nécessaire de redémarrer. Maintenant, il est intéressant de définir cette application comme étant la visionneuse par défaut :

Sur Windows Server 2016 et ultérieur, accédez aux paramètres, à Système, puis dans Applications par défaut, vous allez retrouver la possibilité de définir la visionneuse par défaut. Elle n’est pas définie, donc cliquez pour choisir une application par défaut et là, vous avez une alternative à Paint : la fameuse Visionneuse de photos Windows.

Si vous utilisez une version plus ancienne de Windows Server ou si vous aimez utiliser l’ancien panneau de configuration, alors c’est possible de réaliser cette opération. Cela peut permettre également de choisir les extensions de fichiers pour lesquelles vous souhaitez utiliser la visionneuse de photos Windows.

Il ne vous reste plus qu’à l’utiliser au quotidien.
